Do Wirehaired Vizslas like to swim?

I know the feeling of being outside of your element. I have had the opportunity to be in a raft that was capsized going through rapids. I still remember the feeling of being under water moving wherever the water would take me, and not knowing up from down. I have found that I prefer staying in the boat.

We have had our dogs out to canals, lakes and many pivot ponds. We have noticed that Hadley does not mind water except for the equation of having no solid ground underneath her feet. From the experience above I do not think that I will hold it against her. Danger is a strong swimmer and enjoys playing fetch in the water. Cash we have found LOVES water, she usually takes a drink by dunking most of her head in the water bowl. We have also caught her trying to dunk her whole body in her water bowl. Most times we are out and about, we have found Cash will lay in anything if it looks wet.

Overall, Wirehaired Vizslas generally love water and swimming, especially when they have good experiences from a young age. Make sure if you have a wirehaired vizsla to expose them to water and swimming situations before they turn 16 weeks of age for the best results.
